How would you create your ideal reality?
Hollywood is filled with movies and television programs aimed at altering our reality. In fact, video games and most of the electronic devices we interact with on a daily basis all have the same thing in common; they’re presenting an image that isn’t necessarily truthful.
I get it. There are many aspects of my life I could appreciate if they were more appealing. For example, my morning routine could be filled with more excitement. My daily household chores could be more entertaining. And, some of my responsibilities could be more uplifting. But, that doesn’t mean I need to change my entire reality. I just need to learn to accept what is and appreciate it.
All this technological advancement is really just interfering with what we believe is important in life.
I’ve always been a fan of new technology, especially electronics. That being said, I’ve never really had the extra disposable cash to adhere to the long list of gadgets that have been invented over the years. I do however get slightly excited when a new gadget comes to the market. It brings new excitement to the table. But, after the years of buying new gadgets here and there I’ve come to realize that neither of these inventions ever delivered there promise. In fact, most of the time, I ended up regretting the purchase itself because it wasn’t what I was looking for, or because it was search low-quality grade. In the end, I just gave up on buying new gadgets altogether. They always seemed to just bring more troubles to my life.
That isn’t to say that new technology cannot bring a smile to your face. There are plenty of materialistic items that make our lives easier. Things like the vehicles we drive, the cell phones that are glued to our hip, even a can opener makes life easier at times.
Some of the new electronic technology out there, such as virtual reality headsets, most modern video games, even 3-D is so advanced and realistic that it makes you feel like you’re actually in the program itself. The days of a complete reality shift are getting much closer.
I remember back in the day when I was a youngster in elementary school. I would imagining all the possibilities of the future. I remember imagining I was stepping into a virtual reality, where I was able to alter my own lifestyle. I remember thinking what life would be like with different friends, different family, and an entirely different reality. Well, those days have actually come to fruition.
You don’t have to go very far these days to change your reality altogether. That being said, if you were offered an alternate reality would you take it? And, more importantly, what with the reality look like?
As I reminisce about the good all days, before all this crazy technology hit the shelves, it reminds me that my imagination only goes so far. There are only so many images I can muster up with my own thoughts. If it weren’t for the algorithm of life; throwing me curve balls here and there, life would be quite boring. Especially if it was left up to my own imagination. This realization makes me think that it would be quite difficult to consistently have an entertaining story to tell. Most likely, I would just fall right back into the complacency that I dwell in today. And, for the most part, I believe the majority of civilization would do the same.
All too often, we attempt to move forward in life without a plan, without any insight as to what is truly important in life. Most of us barely know ourselves. So, based on the presumption that we barely know what we want, that doesn’t prove any confidence towards our abilities to dramatize an appealing alternate reality.
How can we define an appealing alternate reality if we can’t even come to appreciate our own current reality?
What type of reality would you create for yourself? How would your lifestyle be any different than today? And, most importantly, would you actually appreciate your new found reality when it was present?
I think it’s easier said than done.
We barely know what we want as it is, let alone trying to make permanent (AR) changes to our lives. It would quite difficult to step inside and feel comfort in an entirely different environment, but not impossible.
The truth behind the matter is that, although, we may be able to transition into a new environment, it would be difficult to constantly drum up new excitement and interest, just like it is in our present lives.
Yes, you could eliminate people altogether in your alternate reality. This way you wouldn’t get so frustrated or competitive, but how lonely would that be?
