There are few moments in life where, at the end of the activity, the feeling is astonishing. Perhaps as you lay on your king size mattress that you paid nearly your arm and leg for. As soon as your head hits your pillow, a tremendous feeling of sensation runs through your veins. Or, maybe it’s the time that comes frequent when you take a puff of the first cigarette of the morning. I know from experience. This feeling is astonishing like any other could possibly be.

It is though you’re in the state of orgasm for a slight moment.

These instances come few and far between. In fact, not too many of our every day experiences contain any type of pleasure. The majority of our activities can be more defined as ‘responsibility.’

One of my most recent pleasurable activities is putting kids to sleep. I mean, the moment they are put to sleep, this is what I’m talking about.

As soon as they are put to sleep, instantly, my mind forgets them all together. As bad as this sounds, this is the very moment that enables me to think of myself and replenish my psyche. Although this may sound selfish, it’s actually one of the most important parts of my day. It allows me to think my day through; how to work out any issues. It allows me to prepare for the following day. It rebuilds my mindset back where it needs to be in order to properly parent my children. In fact, if I didn’t have this period of time, my mind would be a frenzy right now.

I love the first five minutes, as soon as I put the kids to sleep, as I sit on the couch, my mind thinks of absolutely nothing. My mind is in a state of meditation, fully absorbing the moment alone. kid free.
